Drywood Termites In Your St. Petersburg Home?
Drywood termites live inside the wood they eat, so they can damage your trim, framing and furniture for years before you notice. Cameron has been finding and treating them in St. Pete since 1932.
What Are Drywood Termites?
Drywood termites are one of the most common termites in coastal Florida. Unlike subterranean termites, they never need contact with the soil. A colony moves into dry wood, like attic framing, window and door frames, trim or furniture, and feeds from the inside out.
Older homes in St. Petersburg, Gulfport and the beach towns are frequent targets, but newer construction gets them too. A home can hold more than one colony at a time, so finding one is a reason to check the whole structure, not just the spot where you saw them.
What Are The Signs Of Drywood Termites?
Drywood termites rarely show themselves, but they leave clues. Watch for these around your home.
- Small piles of tiny, hard pellets on windowsills, floors or under furniture
- Pinhead-size holes in wood where those pellets are pushed out
- Discarded wings near windows, doors and light fixtures
- Swarms of winged termites indoors, often in the evening around lights
- Blistered paint or wood that sounds hollow when you tap it
If you find pellets or wings, leave a few where they are and call us. They help your technician track down the colony during the inspection.
Why Is Tent Fumigation The Standard Fix?
Drywood colonies hide inside walls, attics and framing where no one can see or reach them. Tent fumigation seals your home and fills it with a fumigant gas that reaches every piece of wood in the structure, so hidden colonies are treated along with the ones you found.
It is the most reliable way to stop a widespread drywood infestation. Your inspection tells us whether your home needs it, and you get a clear quote before any work starts.

Drywood Or Subterranean?
Drywood termites live in the wood. Subterranean termites live in the soil and travel up through mud tubes, and they need a different treatment. Your inspection tells us which one you have.
Have Questions About Drywood Termites?
How much does tent fumigation cost?
It depends on the size, layout and roof of your home and how much prep is involved. We give you an exact price after a free inspection, and nothing starts until you approve it.
How long do I have to stay out of my home?
Usually two to three days. Your home stays sealed during treatment, then it is aerated and tested for clearance before anyone goes back inside.
Do I need to remove food and medicine?
Yes. Food, medicine and pet items need to be removed or double-bagged before treatment. We give you a full prep checklist so nothing gets missed.
Will fumigation keep drywood termites away for good?
Fumigation wipes out the termites in your home at the time of treatment, but it does not leave lasting protection behind. New swarmers can fly in later, which is why regular termite inspections matter in Florida.
Can I sell my home if it has drywood termites?
Yes, but they will likely show up on the buyer’s WDO inspection. Getting an inspection and treatment plan in place first makes the sale go more smoothly.
